Generator is a multi-phase project funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) in partnership with Manchester City Council.

It aims to support local businesses with flexible workspace and business information support in four locations across Manchester.

Michael Waistell 1

Michael Waistell

Project Manager

Read bio

Michael is the Project Manager, setting up the space and running the Generator project. He led the Build a Business project in 2021, helping startups grow. Michael enjoys hearing about innovative business ideas and exploring Manchester’s hidden gems. He has a unique skill of playing the organ and aims to grow the Generator.

Gaelle Ayamou 1

Service Development Coordinator

Gaelle, with a background in business journalism and social entrepreneurship, supports businesses through one-on-one sessions, events, and partnerships. She loves discovering new projects and inspirations in Manchester. In her leisure time, she enjoys quiet walks in parks. Gaelle is skilled in hairdressing and always greets with a smile. Her future goal is to own a farm.

Philip Dovgopol 1

Service Development Coordinator

Philip assists in project management and promotes the Generator’s new location. With a background in customer service and social impact, he previously worked with Citizens Advice Manchester and a charity for Ukrainian refugees. Philip loves meeting entrepreneurs and finds inspiration in their stories. He enjoys holidays and is working on his Day Skipper license. His future goal is to start his own business.

Emma Kajiyama 1

Emma Kajiyama

Neighbourhood Delivery Assistant

Emma is responsible for front of house duties, media, admin, and events. She studied filmmaking and environmental conservation before joining the British Antarctic Survey. Emma enjoys supporting small businesses and connecting with the diverse community at the Generator. In her free time, she attends local events and festivals. She also has a talent for Scottish dancing and aims to finish writing her book and screenplay.

Sam Wale 1

Sam Wale

Neighbourhood Delivery Assistant

Sam handles front of house duties, media, admin, and events. After earning a degree in Children’s Nursing, she sought a role that combined meeting new people and supporting them while learning about a new industry. At the Generator, she loves discovering business stories and having fun with the team. Outside of work, Sam enjoys climbing, pub quizzes, and park walks. She loves solving crosswords and dreams of living in a different country.
