Autumn has very quickly come around and brought with it a busy few months at Generator!
With sold out workshops, external event bookings, and the welcome popularity of our hot desking, both our spaces have seen lots of new and familiar faces through the doors. In this round-up, we’ll be sharing highlights of the autumn period, including Networking Evenings, Social Media Collaborations and the growing community at Generator.

Starting things off after those quick few summer months, where Manchester was treated to a short-lived break from the heavy winds and rain, September brought a wave of activity to our events space and creative studio, at Royal Mills. Back by popular demand, Podcasting for Beginners, was a sell-out, subsequently encouraging new attendees to trial the podcasting equipment for themselves, at Generator.

Also popular and possibly promoted by the showcasing of our creative and photography equipment on social media, was studio photography. Various generator members have become well acquainted with the range of lighting, backdrops and cameras, transforming the event space into a photography hub for local creatives and business owners alike.

Over at Town Hall Extension, St. Peter’s Square, we invited guests to an open day of free coworking, offering a tour round the space, free 1-2-1 support and business advice and, of course, free coffee from the machine! Shortly following, our monthly Networking Evening returned to St. Peter’s Square, after a one-off change of scenery as a result of the temporary closure of the Town Hall Extension.
October and November featured a full schedule of workshops and networking events, including a start-up masterclass at Manchester’s North City Library, where our staff introduced the support and resources of Generator to attendees and passers-by. With the fast-approaching self-assessment tax return deadlines, there has been a particular focus on relevant topics across our events.
Making Tax Digital and November’s Accountancy Clinic were an opportunity for those with doubts to learn about the importance of meeting deadlines, and the best way to do so. Also hosted, was the breakfast session The Benefits of Budgeting, where, alongside networking and morning refreshments, attendees engaged in a thoughtful discussion on all things finance and budgeting, as a self-employed professional.

To start off the Networking Evening’s, our staff member Augustine developed a fun bingo icebreaker, encouraging attendees to make their way around the room, and converse with different entrepreneurs. It has been fabulous to welcome a great turnout to our social evenings and witness the insightful exchanges and community environment that Generator is all about.
October also saw the first members social, where, via newsletter invite, regular and pre-booked users of the space were invited to bring their best Halloween costumes to work on Friday 31st and join the team for a celebratory evening after work.

With winter and festive dates on the horizon, a few more workshops (including Canva for Beginners, Making Tax Digital and Social Media Masterclass) are being packed in, before the year is rounded off with a Christmas themed Networking Social. Book your place on Eventbrite, and we look forward to seeing you at Generator!
